The group is led by dance/movement therapist Marie Carstens. She integrates movement with imagery and uses a vast array of movement qualities, rhythms and phrasing, as well as developmental neuromuscular patterns for support and coordination of movement with the goal of improving well-being and vitality, as well as maintaining expressivity, according to a release from the Seven Star School.
“Based on the empirically supported premise that the body, mind and spirit are interconnected, the American Dance Therapy Association defines dance/movement therapy as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to further the emotional, cognitive, physical and social integration of the individual.” – American Dance Therapy Association
Carstens invites participants to move at their own comfort level and ability, as well as express feelings safely and playfully. Most importantly, the dance therapy group aims toward people revitalizing themselves while they dance together.
Carstens has 20 years of experience helping people move more freely and fully in body and mind.
